Begging At Westfield Not Going Anywhere

The New Zealand Reporter finds begging in the exit point to Westfield Mall in Christchurch and its ingrained presence.

On their way out of Westfield this morning, drivers were met on the entrance/exit roadway by a man begging.

He carried his possessions in his backpack and a hand-drawn children’s cart that he had set up in the Matipo Street entrance/exit.

With card in hand, he raised his sign and attempted to gain the attention of drivers departing from the mall.

It appeared mall security had spotted him and was keeping their distance in the covered carpark.
