Miss Canterbury Opens Up As She Goes For $20,000 Local Heroes Award

Preview of interview with beauty queen & youth advocate for Te Tahi Youth, Paige Sullivan.

Miss Canterbury 2024’s Paige Sullivan is a proud advocate for youth and the Sue Bagshaw-founded Te Tahi Youth organisation.

The local beauty queen and lawyer is seeking your vote to secure a $20,000 prize for TTY, which nominated her for a Westfield Local Heroes award.

Paige, The Youth Hub Trust’s Sue Bagshaw, and Perinatal Wellbeing Canterbury Trust’s Erin Manning make up the three local finalists that were drawn from a list of 43 nominees. Voting closes on 9 September.

The NZR spoke with Paige about her journey to the Miss Canterbury award show, her influences, passion for Rotary, personal struggles following being assaulted in her final year of high school, along with the need for support for the city’s youth.

This short video will be followed by a longer cut as The NZR looked beyond the beauty queen image to Paige herself.
