The NZR seeks to answer a simple question. Could the Annex Metals scrap pile result in a blaze on the same scale as the August 2022 Woolston car-yard blaze? Or are the risks being overblown?

“This was an accidental fire relating to business activities. Local procedure is all that is needed. No big issue,” read the text message from a FENZ fire inspector.

The fire that the source spoke of took hold at 98 Francella Street in Bromley and it the black cloud that soiled the skyline made news headlines.
