Close to the three-year anniversary of Nigel Bom’s death, Coroner R Schmidt-McCleave has proposed to hold a closed review into its cause and circumstances. This comes in the wake of Martin admonishing the Police’s handling of her brother’s case. Listen to Martin in this podcast:
In September 2023, Police incorrectly told The Wigram newspaper, the case had been handed to the Coroner’s Office. They later admitted this was not so and “anticipate the file will be forwarded to Coronial Services by the end of October 2023.”

The hearing into her brother’s case will be held away from the public spotlight in Schmidt-McCleave’s chambers, preventing the Bom family, witnesses and other “interested parties” from giving their evidence in person.
