The sounds and chants of a group could be heard before it was seen. Such was the cacophony that descended on South Hagley Park this afternoon during the Pro-Palestine march.

The Wigram filmed the peaceful scenes as the march approached Christchurch hospital, and heard from 8 protesters.

Maria says she has nursed in Saudi Arabia, Australia England and elsewhere. She suggests South Africa, which has taken Israeli to the International Criminal Court, has put New Zealand to shame. Maria wants the government to “take a stand”, including against an Israeli shipping company Zim that she states makes use of Lyttelton Port.

Felix hails from Quebec, dislikes Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and holds onto a Palestinian flag.

Lilly Beth takes a break with her dog; her sign reads “Say NO to Apartheid. Boycott Israel”.

While Sheila reclines on the grass under the shade with her adult daughter as a voice resonates above the wind from a sound system.
