Police and the public converged on a bizarre melee outside Riverside Market yesterday afternoon. The NZR heard from one bystander who saw bare-chested fighting and attempts to break into and damage vehicles.

“I heard that one of the guys was coming out of court and he had a bracelet. And I think he wanted to escape, some other guys were trying to stop him or something like that and they started fighting. That’s what I heard.”
