Mosque Shooter: Crown Hours Near 900
The New Zealand Reporter reports on the Crown Law Office's involvement in the Tarrant legal saga and interviews a former secretary for the Linwood Mosque.
The Crown Law Office has spent close to 900 hours on Brenton Tarrant’s legal appeal.

In 2020, Tarrant was convicted of the murder of 51 people, attempting to kill 40 more, and of one terrorist act. In the High Court, Judge Mander sentenced him to life imprisonment for the murders and terrorist act and 12 years for attempted murder.
Technical specialist at the Court of Appeal, Louisa Slack, is responsible for managing his case. Slack confirmed the motion to appeal his sentence and conviction was lodged on 3 November 2022.
Edward Wadsworth is the former secretary for the Linwood Islamic Charitable Trust on the day of shootings.
“He was sentenced as guilty, so, because he pleaded guilty. So, by what grounds can he put in an appeal and so why should the New Zealand taxpayer foot the bill for all of this without even being consulted?” said Wadsworth by phone.
