Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton’s former board chair has questioned council staff’s wisdom in its redevelopment plans for the controversial Main South Road/Riccarton Road/Yaldhurst Road intersection.

Cost estimates for the redevelopment options range between $1.33 and $1.56 million.

Option A has proven controversial. Staff’s preferred option will cost $1.56 million and includes plans to close a right hand turn from Main South Road onto Riccarton Road to traffic.

Councillors today heard from Liz Orr of St. Peters Anglican Preschool, a deputation from a local association, Spokes NZ and individuals.

The council will vote on the three options today.
