Coming Up On The New Zealand Reporter
The NZR takes a look at forthcoming articles including the gender split in our universities and ARA, the NZ Fire Services internal problems, the Dux rebuild, future, and long-forgotten link to WWII.
“The implications of the growing gap in educational attainment for men are significant, as research has shown the strong correlation between college completion and lifetime earnings and wealth accumulation.”

In November 2021 the World Economic Forum published an article entitled “More women in the US complete college than men”. In the coming weeks, NZR will see whether this trend - of more women enrolling in the country’s universities and completing university - exists in New Zealand, and examine the implications for the country.
“The growing gender gap in higher education – both in enrollment and graduation rates – has been a topic of conversation and debate in recent months,” it wrote
“Young women are more likely to be enrolled in college today than young men, and among those ages 25 and older, women are more likely than men to have a four-year college degree. The gap in college completion is even wider among younger adults ages 25 to 34.”
The NZR will be publishing data from all the country’s tertiary institutions, starting with the University of Canterbury. It is currently waiting on data from Massey, Victoria, Auckland, AUT, Otago and ARA.
But the NZR has cast a wider net, looking at the gender split amongst staff and faculty as well as the gender diverse or non-binary community.
In addition, in the coming days the NZR will examine the stalled rebuild of the Dux Delux and Mayor Phil Mauger’s 2022 Dux campaign promise, and the New Zealand Fire Service’s aging city fleet and restructure that begun some 7 years ago.
It goes without saying that to read NZR articles in full and ensure the NZR stays afloat, subscribe today.
