Chaos Erupts on Lichfield Street After Elderly Woman's VW Hits Three Vehicles
During peak-midday traffic on Lichfield Street, an elderly woman’s 4 x 4 Tiguan Volkswagen has streaked out of a carparking building like a bull, colliding with three vehicles, leaving Lichfield Street blocked off and one person injured. The fact that no occupants or pedestrians have been seriously injured or killed is a miracle.
On a rain-soaked afternoon, the driver was leaving the Lichfield Street carparking building and making for her bridge club. When she stopped her utility in front of the pay barrier arm to pay the parking fee, the car flew out of the building at what she described as “100 miles per hour”. She couldn’t control it.
Lizzy, an Environmental Consultant, was “grabbing lunch” and walking east along Lichfield away from Riverside Market, when she saw the Volkswagen tear out of the building. She was “obviously clearly was obviously in, not in control because of how quickly she was coming out to begin with.”
